Rhys David is a former senior writer and editor with the Financial Times. An Honorary Fellow of the Institute of Welsh Affairs (IWA), where he served from 2002-2008 as associate director, he is the author of Tell Mum Not to Worry: A Welsh Soldier’s War in the Near East 1915-1919 ISBN 978-0-9930982-0-8.

He is a Council Member of the Honourable Society of Cymmrodorion, a Life Fellow of the RSA, and a co-editor of Kidlington News in Oxfordshire.

He writes regularly on Wales, regional economic and other issues on various platforms and on http://www.rhysdavid.blog He has spoken regularly on World War One in the Near East.

Earlier in his career he was a journalist in the Western Mail in Cardiff, holding the positions of Chief Leader Writer, and subsequently Industrial Editor and Welsh Affairs Editor. He is a Life member if the National Union of Journalists.

He was educated at Cardiff High Schooland Worcester College, Oxford where he read Literae Humaniores.
